INTRODUCTION  TO  CENTERING  PRAYER

Program:  Centering Prayer is waiting upon God with loving openness, fulfilling the Scriptural invitation, "Be still and know that I am
God" (Ps 46:10). Fr. Thomas Keating writes, "Centering Prayer is a movement, beyond conversation, to communion with Christ.  I
It accustoms us to the language of God, which is silence." The workshop will include presentations, discussions, and the practice
of Centering Prayer. In addition to the Saturday
program, the presenters will schedule follow-up video teaching by Fr. Keating along with the opportunity to experience Centering Prayer more deeply.

Dec. 19-21, 2008
BOERNE  BENEDICTINE  SISTERS  MONASTIC  WEEKEND  EXPERIENCE

 
Program:  This weekend experience is for Catholic single women ages 18-40 considering a vocation to religious life. 
The retreat includes praying with the monastic community
in the Liturgy of the Hours, Lectio Divina, time for silence
and time for sharing. 

Date & Time:  December 19-21, 2008  at Omega Retreat Center.
Registration: 5:00 pm Friday
Program begins with light supper at 6:00 pm on Friday and ends at 1:00 pm Sunday.

Cost.  $20 donation includes lodging, program, meals and refreshments.

   

Jan. 16-18, 2009
FORGIVENESS  RETREAT

 

Program:  In this silent retreat we are invited to bring our wounds to God for healing.  Forgiveness is the ongoing healing process
that involves letting go of pain and negative emotions of the past.
It opens us to receive a deepening of God's healing love.
This retreat will include guided meditation,
Centering Prayer periods, personal reflection time and the opportunity to meet
with the retreat director.

Date & Time:  Friday evening through Sunday noon, January 16-18, 2009 at Omega Retreat Center;
Registration: 5:00 pm, Friday;
Program begins 6:30 pm with light supper, ends with Mass at 11:00 am Sunday.

LECTIO  DIVINA  WORKSHOP,  FORMATION  FOR  PRESENTERS

 
Part 1 - Workshop

Program:  Lectio Divina is the prayerful reading of the Bible, which Christians believe to be divinely inspired. 
This method of Prayer deepens our relationship with God in a natural way.  As we encounter God in the Word, our minds
and hearts are slowly transformed.  Participants will learn how to pray the Scriptures using the
method of Lectio Divina
and will have the opportunity to practice this prayer method both privately and with a group.

Part 2 - Formation for Presenters

To register for this second workshop for formation as a commissioned presenter of Lectio Divina, one must be: Committed to a daily practice of Centering Prayer, Committed to a regular practice of Lectio, and Commissioned as a presenter of Centering Prayer.

The formation schedule includes familiarization with the Presenters Handbook for Lectio Divina, participant facilitation of Lectio Divina
in a small group, discussion of issues raised in the experience.

 Time:  Following the Workshop, from 3:30  to 5:30

April 18, 2009
WELCOMING  PRAYER  RETREAT

 
Program:  This retreat offers an introduction into the Welcoming Prayer practice. The retreat helps establish the prayer as part of
our daily lives.  Topics to be covered include
1) the human condition, 2) the method of the welcoming prayer practice
3) the fruits of the prayer and extending the fruits into daily life. The retreat also includes discussion and Centering Prayer.

June 19-21, 2009
THE  CONTEMPLATIVE  DIMENSION  OF  THE  12  STEPS  RETREAT


Program:  “Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understood Him.” 
Centering Prayer is a simple method of prayer rooted in ancient Christian practice that opens us to God’s presence and divine healing.  For those who practice the 12 Steps found in any 12 step program, there are parallels between the process that Centering
Prayer encourages and the process initiated in the practice of the 12 steps – the process
of human transformation.

Date & Time:  Friday evening through Sunday noon, June 19-21, 2008 at Omega Retreat Center;
Registration: 4:00 pm, Friday;
Program begins with light supper at 6:00 pm on Friday and ends at 12:00 Noon on Sunday.
