Omega seeks to promote the wholeness and holiness of the people of God. The Center opened in 1981, and offers an environment of serenity, hospitality, and prayer, elements so necessary to hear Jesus' invitation. "Therefore, we intend to establish a school for God's service . ." - Prologue - Rule of St. Benedict
. . And so Omega stands as a school for God's service. As Sr. Joan Chittister, OSB, reminds us,the spiritual life takes discipline. It is something to be learned. It is not a set of daily exercises;it's way of life, an attitude of mind, an orientation of soul. Omega's peaceful environment, hospitable atmosphere and caring staff embody Benedictine spirituality which guides people on their faith journey, and by example invites people to create a way of life that welcomes all as Christ. Through its retreats and programs, Omega provides opportunities for spiritual renewal, inner healing,a deepening prayer life, living Benedictine spirituality and growth in a loving relationship with God and all people. It promotes involvement in ministries affirming the dignity of people, and spreading the love of Jesus.
Today, the Center is also used by numerous parishes and church groups that conduct their own
retreats; individuals who want to spend some quiet time in a private retreat; by individuals seeking spiritual direction; and off-site retreats conducted by the Omega staff.
